Benton County Jail Overview

The Benton County Jail / Detention Center is operated by Sheriff Shawn Holloway's Benton County Sheriff's Office. It is the primary public custody point for adult local arrests in Benton County. The roster shows people held for the sheriff and for many agencies that use the county jail, including Bentonville Police Department, Rogers Police Department, Siloam Springs Police Department, Bella Vista Police Department, Centerton Police Department, Arkansas State Police, XNA Police, ICE, U.S. Marshals Service, and other county or state agencies.

The jail is a county jail, not a state prison. That distinction controls the lookup path. Current local custody is searched through the Benton County jail roster. Sentenced state prisoners are searched through the Arkansas Department of Corrections after transfer. Federal sentenced prisoners use the Bureau of Prisons locator. Immigration detainee lookup may require ICE ODLS if the person has moved into ICE custody. A person with ICE, U.S. Marshals, ADOC, DCC, or other agency text in the Benton County roster may have release conditions outside a simple local bond.

Benton County Jail Capacity

Official sheriff material states that the Benton County Jail became operational in April 1999. The building was designed after former Sheriff Andy Lee, architects, and consultants toured eight jails in Colorado and Wyoming, then incorporated selected features into the Bentonville facility. The sheriff describes the building as 100,355 square feet with capacity for 669 inmates, built at a cost of $16.8 million and funded by a half-cent county jail tax.

The facility uses maximum-security pods, minimum-security pods, a dormitory housing unit, and barracks for work-release inmates. Public roster controls also show administrative and housing labels such as BCSO - Booking, BCSO - Intake, BCSO - MED136, and cell-block identifiers in the B, D, E, F, and H ranges. The public roster returned 671 current records during project inspection on May 28, 2026, which is a live roster count from that date, not a certified average daily population.

Look Up Benton County Jail Inmates

Use the official Benton County inmate roster for current jail custody. The Benton County jail roster searches local jail records by name, race, sex, cell block, arrest date, held-for agency, in-custody-on date, and release date. It can display a mugshot if available, name, race, sex, arrest date, held-for agency, release date, and a hold-reasons row with charge, warrant, bond, and set-by text.

1. Open the official roster and start with the Name field. The public portal uses one name box, not separate first and last boxes.
2. Add Race, Sex, Arrest Date, or Held For Agency only if the name returns too many results.
3. Use In Custody On for a date-specific custody check, and Release Date when searching for a released row.
4. Read the hold-reasons row below the main result row because it may contain charges, warrant text, bond, and agency holds.
5. If no result appears after a recent arrest, call the jail or use the FOI request path because official pages do not publish a guaranteed posting time.

The Arkansas Department of Corrections inmate search is not the right first stop for current Benton County jail custody. Use the Arkansas DOC inmate population search only after sentencing or transfer to DOC custody. Benton County Jail Contact

The jail and sheriff's office share the SW 14th Street campus in Bentonville. The public phone line is the practical starting point for current custody confirmation, bond questions, visitor routing, and records-counter direction. For court copies, use the Circuit Clerk. For sheriff booking records or detainee information not visible on the roster, use the sheriff FOI form.

Benton County Jail Visitation

Benton County Jail visitation is all video visitation. The sheriff's visitation material describes on-site video and remote video. Do not arrive expecting contact visits. General population on-site video visits run Monday through Friday in three windows. Remote video is available seven days a week at visitor expense during the same windows. Inmates are allowed two 15-minute visits each week.

Trustees have a different Sunday and Monday schedule, and visits must be during non-working hours. Facility operations can change, so visitors should confirm the active schedule with the Benton County Sheriff's visitation page or jail phone line before travel or remote scheduling.

Benton County Jail Money

The sheriff's fund an inmate's account page separates commissary, phone, video, messaging, tablet, and tech-account services. Commissary deposits use Keefe and AccessCorrections, with lobby deposits available from 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. excluding holidays. Phone calls use RegentPay and Correct Solutions. Video visitation, emails, texts, and tablets use CorrectPay, with Tyler Technologies listed for account support.

Do not treat a tech account as the same account as commissary or phone. Research from the sheriff page says tech-account funds are for video chat, email and text messages, and premium content, and that those funds cannot be transferred to commissary or phone accounts once deposited.

Benton County Jail Booking

Booking begins after arrest by the Benton County Sheriff's Office, a municipal police department, Arkansas State Police, or another agency using the jail. A person lodged in county custody is taken to the Benton County Jail for intake. Public roster controls include BCSO - Booking and BCSO - Intake, which supports the distinction between intake status and longer housing placement.

During intake, the jail creates the administrative custody record, records identifying information, handles property according to agency rules, photographs the person when a booking photo is made, enters charge or hold reasons, and classifies the person for housing. Public roster records can show new charges, warrant charges, ADOC holds, ICE holds, U.S. Marshals holds, and other agency holds. The sheriff Records Division later oversees inmate file records and processes arrest paperwork to courts.

Bond can appear on the roster by charge or hold line. A Cash / Surety line, No Bond line, Other line, or Commitment/Fines & Cost line should be read with care. One hold can prevent release even if a different charge has a posted bond amount. After first court action, use Search ARCourts or the Circuit Clerk to check case-level bond orders.

Benton County Jail FOI Fallback

When the roster does not show the needed detail, the sheriff's FOI and Records Request form is the official fallback for jail and sheriff records. The form includes requester information, preferred delivery method, and a Type of Record dropdown with Booking Record, Detainee Information, Incident Report, Audio/Video Recording, Background Check, and Other. For jail records, include the person's full name, date of birth if known, date of arrest, dates of incarceration, and the record wanted.

FOI is not the same as a court-record request. If the question is a filed charge, court date, disposition, judgment, sealed record, or official court copy, use Search ARCourts and the Benton County Circuit Clerk. If the question is current local custody, booking data, detainee information, or a sheriff-held booking record, start with the jail roster and sheriff FOI path.

Benton County Jail Directions

The Benton County Jail is at 1300 SW 14th St. in Bentonville, near the sheriff's office campus. Official sources give the facility address but do not publish a separate visitor-entry map, a visitor parking fee schedule, public-transit route detail, or ADA-specific entrance instructions. Confirm visitor routing with the facility before travel, especially if the trip involves a visit, bond issue, records request, or access need.

From the I-49 and US-71 corridor, use Bentonville exits toward SW 14th Street or AR-102, then follow local signs toward the sheriff and jail campus. From downtown Bentonville or the courthouse area, allow time to reach SW 14th Street because the Circuit Court building at 102 NE A St. and the jail at 1300 SW 14th St. are separate destinations. From Rogers or east Benton County, local police cases may still be lodged in the Bentonville jail even when the arresting agency is not the sheriff.
